The regular Sunday Service begins immediately following the Healing Service...generally at 7 p.m. It
includes song, prayer, an inspirational talk given by a guest speaker, and spirit greetings by the guest
medium (usually, but not always, the same individual as the speaker).
Click here for our schedule of speakers for the Regular Sunday Service.
A free will offering is collected during both the Student and Regular Sunday services.
The church offers two spiritual development classes, one for non-members and one for members.
These classes begin in October and end in May. They give a balanced and thoughtful approach to
developing mediumship and healing through Spiritualist philosophy.
The Sunday before Easter (known as Palm Sunday in the Christian traditions) is the annual Class
Night where students from both classes take part in the Regular Sunday Service.
If you want more information about our development classes, email info@firstspiritualistsalem.org.
Several educational seminars are presented each year related to spiritual topics. Last year
we were graced with An Evening with the Angels and The Mechanics of Mental Mediumship. Other
topics have included Native American culture, stress relief through hypnotherapy, history of Spiritualism,
and others.
From trips to pizza nights, the church offers many social and special events each year, such as mediums
days with readings by nationally certified and student mediums; pizza night and other theme-based
dinners; a lunch between the early Student Service and the start of the Healing Service each Sunday; an
annual church picnic; and other similar events. Click here for our schedule of upcoming events at or
sponsored by the First Spiritualist Church of Salem.
